Kat Dahlia “Crush On You” Feature in Complex Magazine

imageComplex magazine caught up with Kat Dahlia and got some interesting tidbits out of her! Kat dished on her NYE plans, always tipping 20%, boob jobs and more.

Complex: Let’s talk business. Have you worked out a date for your album?
KD: We don’t have a date for the album, but we pretty much finished cooking the album. It was hard, because we had so many fucking records. We’re pretty happy. I saw you guys did the [50 Most Anticipated Albums list] and I was on there. I made the cut, yay. I beat out Iggy Azalea and Azealia Banks. That doesn’t say much, doesn’t really say much.

Kat Dahlia Talks Vocal Issues With Billboard

Billboard caught up with Kat Dahlia to discuss her vocal cord diagnosis which forced her to cancel her East Coast headline tour. The publication went behind the scenes with Kat as they followed her on a visit to Dr. Scott Kessler (the go-to voice doctor for everyone from Jon Bon Jovi to One Direction’s Harry Styles to the Justin Timberlake and more).

"Sometimes I feel like I’m still sitting in the dugout because I can’t be out there playing right now," she says. "But there was a certainty today that I hadn’t felt in a while. There were so many moments these past two weeks where I felt kind of closed off and just helpless. But today was a good day."

Who are some of your earliest influences?

Growing up I was listening to what my parents listened to which was Hector Lavoe, Tito Puente, Buena Vista Social Club. When I got a little bit older I listened to more Pop stuff, you know N*Sync and Backstreet Boys. Later on I got more into the Blues with B.B. King, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, and Bob Marley. That’s when my musical pallet started to flourish. My biggest musical influences would be Bob Marley, B.B. King, Frank Sinatra and Michael Jackson.
